According to Hilton Head Fire Rescue, at approximately 11:38 a.m., a female bather received a non-life-threatening injury to the leg consistent with a shark bite. After receiving aid at the scene, she was airlifted to Savannah for further treatment.
According to Shore Beach Service, today’s incident marks the first shark attack of Hilton Head’s summer season.
