Cincinnati Attack Sparks Outrage

Cincinnati officials are coming under heavy fire for their comments regarding the attack on a White couple by a mob of Blacks after the Cincinnati Music Festival. The July 26 attack garnered national attention after several videos of the incident went viral on social media, with many calling it a racially motivated attack.

Unsurprisingly, officials moved quickly to shift blame away from the attackers, who were all Black men and women. Police Chief Teresa Theetge blamed the vicious assault on alcohol, stating, “Alcohol likely played a significant role in the altercation,” before attempting to shift the blame onto the bartender who served at least one of the assailants. Victoria Parks, a city council member, blamed the victims, stating, “They begged for that beatdown! I am grateful for the whole story.” I should mention that Victoria Parks is Black and an avid advocate for DEI, and that Teresa Theetge has a history of discrimination against white officers.

This reaction from officials has sparked outrage among commentators who have pointed out a pattern of bias in regard to how cases involving Black-on-white violence are handled by officials and media, with many calling for the resignations of Parks and Theetge.
