The pendulum just swung back on comic book fans, leaving many shocked. Christopher Priest, a black man who hates being typecast into being “the guy who writes black people because he’s black,” has just revealed his reimagined Black Panther. Meet Ketema, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed son of T’Challa.
Even though Marvel and their parent company, Disney, have a long history of race-swapping characters under the guise of “passing the mantle” and “increasing diversity,” many fans seem upset and confused. @FreakyMusic_ , a white guy who wishes he were black, had this to say: “The roots of the black panther are deep, and they are black, and that is that.” Black guys who wish they were white are equally upset. @ImYourHostVick3 raged on X: “THEY EVEN COLONIZED BLACK PANTHER!!!! ”
With the financial collapse of the pride movement and Ketema being revealed just weeks before Juneteenf, #WhiteBoySummer seems to be in full swing.
