Earlier this evening at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, numerous people ran for their lives and took shelter, causing a stampede and chaos after rumors spread of a shooting or active shooter situation. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the panic started with a fight, followed by a ‘popping’ noise possibly a balloon exploding—which led to mass panic and people running. It is unclear where the reported fight occurred, whether anyone was hurt in that fight, or if anyone was injured during the ensuing chaos. This is how the active shooter rumor began.
